Schools

Nickerson-South Hutchinson USD 309 is Reno County's third largest school district with nearly 1,200 students. It serves the communities of South Hutchinson, Nickerson, and surrounding rural areas. Students at all grade levels have an opportunity to participate in numerous academic and extracurricular activities. Student achievement has been very good, and most students go on to further their education after high school.

Hutchinson Community College

Founded in 1928, Hutchinson Community College (HCC) provides a cost effective option for higher education in Reno County. HCC students have a rich history of excelling in both academic and athletics. Over 120 majors are offered with 360 instructors teaching 1300 classes. Blue Dragon Athletics participate in a dozen varsity sports ranging from football to women's basketball and routinely compete for league and national titles. Hutchinson Community College campus hosts many fine arts and athletic events, including the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's National Basketball Championship every March.
